Why Is Memory Foam So Bad for Healthy Sleep?
Memory foam has been infiltrating our bedrooms for some time, and more so for "mattress-in-a-box" manufacturers as they needed a material that could be stuffed in to a box and regain its shape when unpacked. Great! But is it any good for sleep?
Memory foam can be comfortable but doesn't compare to a traditionally natural fillings for temperature regulation, humidity reduction and being naturally hypoallergenic. Many memory foam pillow makers are having to introduce heavily treated synthetic outer covers in an attempt to introduce these benefits.
What's more, every foam filling used in the UK must be treated by law with flame retardants by impregnating it with chemicals, and then the final product must also be treated in it's own right. Not very pleasant, and not great for a health sleep experience. So, is it really worth it when there are far better, more natural options available?
